鯉 [koi] is a Japanese carp that symbolizes courage, strength, perseverance & bravery. 鯉 [koi] is also a homophone for 恋 [koi] which means affection or love. Paired with a 蓮 [hasuno; lotus], the koi & the lotus flower represent beauty from difficult circumstances, pain, struggle, and growth.
